Jargon Buster

Super VHS:

Super VHS tapes are not much different from Standard VHS tapes. In fact, the two tape formats are both exactly the same size and the only noticeable, important difference is that Super VHS tapes
record images at a much higher quality of resolution than Standard VHS tapes.

Super VHS tapes record image resolution at about 380 - 400 horizontal lines. This is alot higher than Standard VHS!

Super VHS-C:

The only difference between Super VHS-C tapes and Super VHS tapes is the size. Super VHS-C tapes are alot more smaller than the standard Super VHS Tapes.

SP & LP:

SP = Standard Play           LP = Long Play SP

SP & LP are VCR speed settings that control the speed of the tape. Slower speeds produce better quality images.
In SP mode, the tape is moving past the head at 33.35 mm per second. In LP mode, it's 16.7 mm/s.
